User guide and first boot
Together with the PC you get a guide explaining, with text and images, how to hook everything up and boot the system without fear.
1. Connections: where to plug each cable (power, monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers) so nothing is left unclear.
2. Power on: how to switch on the tower and monitor, which LEDs should light up and what screen you should see first.
3. MS-DOS / Windows 98 boot: how to choose between MS-DOS and Windows 98 (if you selected dual system) and which options are most common.
4. Playing games: how to launch games from MS-DOS or Windows 98, how to use keyboard shortcuts and the joystick.
5. Certificates: where to find the machine serial number, owner name and how to use your warranty.

Customising your RetroPC
Each PC is built to order. On top of the base configuration you can choose OS, monitor type, Compact Flash disk, joystick, speakers, box type and certificates so your retro machine is exactly how you want it.
Operating system
You can go for pure MS-DOS for the most classic experience, add Windows 98 to get a graphical desktop and utilities from that era, or choose a dual MS-DOS + Windows 98 setup that gives you the best of both worlds.
Monitor types
We work with 15" and 17" CRT monitors for purists who want the original picture, and 15", 17" and 19" LCD monitors for those who prefer something lighter and more compact. We will show photo examples of each screen type.
Compact Flash disk
Compact Flash behaves like a “retro SSD”: it runs cooler, is quieter and makes everything load much faster. Perfect if you want the smoothest daily use without losing the charm of a classic PC.
Joystick
You can add a classic joystick to enjoy action, flight or arcade games the way they were played in the 90s. We show photos of the model used and how it connects to the PC.
Speakers
If you want better sound than a built-in speaker, you can add a set of external speakers. You get clearer audio, higher volume and a more immersive feeling while gaming or listening to music.
Standard box or gift box
The standard brown box is perfect for regular shipping. If you choose the gift box, the PC box is fully wrapped as a present and protected inside an outer cardboard box, so the surprise is not visible until the very end.
Restoration and collector certificates
Each RetroPC comes with its own documentation: not just an old computer, but a restored, tested and certified machine with a serial number.
Every RetroPC Elite goes through a full cleaning, inspection and exhaustive testing process. We check power supply, motherboard, memory, drives, sound card and monitor to make sure everything works like it did on day one.
Your PC comes with a unique restoration & collector’s certificate, numbered and linked to your specific machine. You know exactly what has been done, which components it includes, and that you own a carefully restored retro system ready for many years of gaming.
RetroPC Elite warranty
Even though we work with hardware that is over 25 years old, we treat every PC as if it were new: we disassemble it, clean it and test it thoroughly before shipping, and it is covered by our warranty.
- Full hardware check: internal cleaning, replacement of critical parts when needed and visual inspection of the board and connectors.
- Exhaustive testing: multiple boot cycles plus checks of ports, sound, video, disk and representative games.
- A specific warranty period for your PC (as shown on the certificate), covering faults related to the restoration work.
- If an initial defect appears (for example, a faulty key or a bad mouse), we replace the peripheral at no extra cost.
- Direct contact with us via email, phone or WhatsApp for any technical question or issue.
